swimming

Yesterday afternoon Kt, uni and I went swimming at scarborough beach.

Kt had her new Xmas boogie board to try out, I had my new maternity swimsuit to wear and I also took along my prescription goggles because although I have had them for a while I haven't actually worn them swimming yet.

Kt was really amazing on the boogie board. We spent ages out on the water and it was good for all of us because she was very independent, not needing to hang on to either of us.

We were a distance apart from each other to make sure there was someone in close proximity to her at all times, but she didn't actually need saving at all.

The few times she went under her board, she came up clinging to the underside of it with a big grin on her face!

I loved my swimsuit ... it is nice feeling completely covered. The floaty bits did kind of float around me in the water and I had to keep reminding myself what I was feeling was fabric not seaweed.

The prescription goggles (the ones I got from the optometrist $80) were terrific! They were comfortable, I could see well, I could go under the water. I did not get a headache! They were not completely watertight, but they were tinted and they allowed me to see without worrying about losing my glasses (or contact lenses), or feeling frantic because I couldn't see our stuff on the beach, or the faces of my family in the water.

I felt a lot more relaxed in the water too .. not trying to fight the water, not tensing up because I felt I needed to keep my head above water.

I did lots of breaststroke because that and backstoke are supposed to be good for pregnancy and I was totally worn out by the end ... sore legs, sore belly, full bladder (OK nothing new there!).

All in all a great afternoon.

I have now cleared space on my desk for my new laptop ... once I have gotten a bit more work done I will crack it open and test it out as a reward for my hard work.

I also have all the baby clothes in one corner of the loungeroom ready to sort through when then time is right.

It is nice to have everything all together in one place instead of spread throughout the house.

I am still working through Kt's artworks and clearing out my old dressing table to make room for our new build in wardrobe being delivered on Tuesday, but there is now much more working space in both areas (as a result of musical boxes!) which will allow me to work on both jobs much more easily.

I have also started on a plan to do either one WW or one Aldi shop per week. That way I will visit each store only once a fortnight and start to stockpile and put our extra fridge, freezer and pantry space to good use.

I think it will be tricky to begin with, but I should get the hang of it.

Then maybe by the time the baby is here I can try and drop the shopping to once a fortnight for each place????
