so much for regular postings!!!

After a mammoth effort of getting the carpets clean and bare so the carpet cleaners could effectively clean them I have much clearer floors and I don't want to go back to how it was.

RJ has been getting into every single nook and cranny with his fingers and after a couple of times of picking him up and finding him completely dusty, dirty or hair covered I decided I needed to seriously attack the rest of the floor too.

Now my kitchen floor and any areas Rj has shown an interest in are sparkling and clean.

I have concentrated my efforts from the ground up to about a metre high ... I have also cleaned up higher LOL!!! but the main focus has been from the floor up.

I cannot believe how interesting Rj finds dust particles, spider webs, tiny crumbs on the floor, the bottoms of my shoes, under the fridge ... inside the fridge, tiny insects ....

Anyway needless to say I am now vacuuming and sweeping and floor cleaning daily.

The other thing I seem to be doing a lot of is cooking baby meals in bulk and freezing them.

Breastfeeding has taken a backseat to solid food feeding and RJ's appetite has taken off in a big way.

There is a huge list of things I need to get done, many of which have to wait until RJ is asleep.

These days when I put him down somewhere, he is in a different place a minute later.

Now that I have the floors reasonably clean I let him roam freely, putting out noisy toys around the place to keep him interested. That way if I have to take my eyes off him for a while I can still hear where he is based on what toy he is playing with.

For a while we tried to keep him on the carpet in the loungeroom in a play area bounded by toys, cushions etc.

This kept him fascinated and interested for a couple of weeks and then he decided he needed to explore further.

Suddenly he began to find gaps in the barrier and would head off with great determination towards the kitchen floor.

Once he reached it he would squeal with delight!!! ... and head straight for the fridge and beyond.

He was so determined to get there that he ended up crawling over the pillow barrier ... grunting and straining all the way.

Now he likes to head for the screen door leading to the backyard and chat to the pets as they lie by the back door.

prepare the house for carpet cleaning

I need to get more organized so I'm trying to do a small blog post each day to keep me on track.

On Wednesday morning the carpet cleaner will be here ... so I have had this week and particularly the next two days to get the floor as clear and uncluttered as possible.

This is not happening a moment too soon as RJ is scooting along the floor at a great rate of knots.

Its not a full up on hands and knees crawl, but it gets him around ... Fast!!

A week ago he would move 360 degrees and get about 1 to 2 metres away from wherever you put him down.

Now ... if he sees something interesting across the room ... he heads straight for it.

Moves along a bit like a seal!!!

I have all of Kt's small toys boxed up in big labelled plastic containers. I don't know how it happened but last year we accumulated more toys with tiny parts than we have ever had before.

Kt is not keen for me to tidy up and organize her things when she is there ... she constantly kicks up a fuss and complains etc.

But when I do it while she is at school and she returns home to find her room tidy or her toys organized I am pleasantly surprised with how impressed and even appreciative she is of what I have done!!!

I am glad school holidays have finished and I have a chance to tackle a few of the things I have been meaning to get done for ages
